Here at Jugendstil_IO, we believe in celebrating women everywhere every day: empowering women and driving gender equality is not limited to just one day but a long-term commitment. We have the opportunity to learn from each other, remove blind spots, create inclusive cultures and build awareness of how we can all support this change.

The quote we have selected for this issue of #ThoughtsOnProgramming is from Karen Spärck Jones, a British computer scientist, a pioneer in statistics and linguistics and a role model for an advocate for women in tech.

The British Computer Society recognizes her outstanding achievements in Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing with the yearly Karen Spärck Jones Award.

I think it's very important to get more women into computing. My slogan is: Computing is too important to be left to men.
